Adam Smith Theatre Yoga Class

Learn basic poses safely and progress

Want to improve your strength and flexibility?

Iyengar Yoga is a safe and progressive method of Yoga well suited to beginners.

It is accessible, authentic and as your teacher, I am trained in anatomy, alignment and offer hands on adjustments.

Iyengar Yoga focussed on alignment in poses and this  precision helps improve your posture and in turn your sense of space within.

Progress is slow, steady and assured as long as you practice.

Many attendees report to feeling lighter and stronger after an Iyengar Yoga class.

Join us for Iyengar Yoga on Thursday 10am to 11.15am for a Beginners Yoga class in the Advantage Room, Adam Smith Theatre, Kirkcaldy.

The 8 week class block runs from Thursday 20 August until Thursday 8 October 2026 and costs £80.  Book now.

Drop-in bookings, if available, are £15 per class.

I am a Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher

Hi my name is Jo and I am a Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher. The teacher training system in Iyengar Yoga is detailed, thorough and includes training in hands on adjustements. If you are not comfortable with this, no problem. Just have a quiet word before class begins.

Mistakes that people make...

MISTAKE 1 - I am not flexible enough for Yoga

This is like saying you are not dirty enough to take a bath. Yes yoga will help your flexibility but you don’t need to be flexible to start yoga.

MISTAKE 2 - I am too old for Yoga

It’s never too late to start yoga. You will feel benefits from your first class.

MISTAKE 3 - I don't know anyone in the class

Yoga is a great way to meet new people. Classes are booked in class blocks so the same people are in class each week. You can get to know others or not. Your choice.

Adam Smith Theatre Beginners Yoga Class

What’s Included?

– The class is booked in a multi-week class block. This is to help demonstrate and feel the progression week on week.

– All equipment is provided for you. You don’t need to buy anything before your first class. If you want to purchase props in time, then that’s up to you. You don’t need to do this ahead of your first class.

– No fancy clothing is required either. Just wear something that doesn’t impede your movement. Also useful to have a top you can tuck in.

– The class will begin with some gentle stretches. Alternatives and variations will be offered if you don’t want to do any particular action.

– Every class is a different sequence created by the teacher.

What Experience Do I Have?
